As great as Google Earth is, it's not perfect. As you're browsing around
checking things out, you'll encounter some bugs here and there. Here are some
of the more interesting ones:
The Strange Towers (download)
Just north of Pittsburgh, PA, these strange towers reach toward the sky. There
are lakes on the top of each of them, which leads me to think the satellite
had a tough time gauging the elevation because of the water.
The Blue Quirks of China (download) In the desert in China you'll
find this large blue area. My only guess is that the satellite freaked out
a bit while getting a picture and that was the result.
The UFOs (download)
Six UFO looking objects, all in a row. Some have speculated that they are weather
balloons, others think they're just image bugs. What do you think?
There are literally hundreds more map quirks in our Strange
Map Quirks file section. Like the planes, these tend to come and go as Google adds fresh
imagery, but most of them are still visible on the Earth.
