A large Heart-Shaped Carolina bay straddles the border between Hoke and Robeson Counties in North Carolina. It’s shape is even more prominent when viewed in high-resolution LiDAR elevation maps. The mash up here contains a 15-mile square LiDAR image overlay and a small "enhanced" overlay to give the heart shape an appropriately red color. Numerous instances of intersecting and overlapping bays exist where there is not intervening rim, confounding both those who propose them to be wind-driven lake formations, as well as those who suggest they are impact craters. Enjoy.
