Polygon Wood Corner July 1917

The Battle of Polygon Wood was a small conflict of the Battle of Passchendaele in World War I. The majority of the battle was fought near Ypres, Belgium, in an area named the Polygon Wood after the layout of the area. However, much of the woodland had been under intense shelling during the Battle of Passchendaele, and the area changed hands many times throughout the course of the campaign. The Battle of Polygon Wood occured during the second phase of the Battle of Passchendaele.
